Meet Us!

Dear American Brahma Club,

I am honored and excited to serve as the President of the American Brahma Club. Based in North Carolina, I have been dedicated to working with this remarkable breed for nearly 10 years. My personal focus is on the breeding and restoration of Dark Brahmas, as well as developing a non-standardized variety known as Gold Brahmas (which with many other dedicated breeders I hope to see accepted and on champion row in the coming years!).

My primary goal for my tenure is to prioritize the preservation of both the breed and the club, bringing them back into the spotlight where they belong. Alongside an amazing team of officers, I hope to revitalize our community and bring a renewed focus on education to our members.

I look forward to working together to ensure a bright future for the Brahma breed.

Best regards,

Scott Perry

Bronwen Brune is excited to be the Vice President for the Club and looks forward to serving the club and it's members.

My name is Joshua Flees, and I am serving as the Secretary Treasurer for the club. I started raising large fowl darks after getting stock from Diana Delaney and Duanne Urch and fell in love. In my 4-H career, we also raised bantam buffs, but the large fowl were my passion. After letting go of our original line when I went to college, my grandfather and I decided to raise large fowl darks again now that I am done with my PhD and am closer WI now that I am in IL. My job is the keep the club finances in order, keep good notes for the club, and assist you all with anything you may need.

Dee Mejstrik has been a long time Brahma Breeder and active club member. She has been a District Director for the Midwest for many years before taking on the role of Point Master in the club. All show reports are shared with her for her to update and keep track of member points.

Hello all! I am Taylor Schubauer, and I will be representing the Midwest region. My journey in poultry started at a very young age as the bantam Brahmas were one of the first breeds I took interest to. While I started with bantam Dark Brahmas from Pennsylvania, I quickly took a liking to the bantam Light Brahmas instead. Our first flock came from a small breeder in Nebraska, and we later acquired birds from Terry Britt, Brian Knox, and Marty Abrahamsen. After a couple of years of breeding and showing the Light Brahmas, we extended to the bantam Buff Brahmas and acquired birds from Marty Abrahamsen, Arbuckle, and breeder from New York. The bantam Light Brahmas have been successfully awarded Reserve Junior Bantam and Champion and Reserve Feather Legged. The bantam Buff Brahmas have also been successfully shown, with being awarded best and reserve of breed at the club’s Grand National show in 2025 at Fayetteville, AR. Not only am I involved with exhibition poultry, but I have also been able to complete a Bachelor in Poultry Science and am currently obtaining my Ph.D. in Poultry Science at the University of Arkansas, specializing in gut health and parasitology. Please feel free to reach out with any questions concerning the club or general poultry!

Hi, my name is Kasia Cusick and I live in Naples, Florida with my husband, David, of 28 years. We homeschool our four children. Eleven years ago, we signed our oldest daughter up for 4-H and that is how we ended up involved in the poultry world. We were gifted five fluffy Dark Brahma chicks by a friend who had gotten them from John Neff. We have loved the breed ever since. We love the large fowl Dark Brahmas, but my children also have Bantam Buff Brahmas and Bantam Light Brahmas.  In addition to poultry and 4-H, I teach piano and violin.
